Students at Eagle High have eight different teachers when their A and B days are combined. Many different relationships can be made with each one and having a favorite teacher is common.
It is important to recognize teachers and let them know their students have a good time in class. The following students show their appreciation for a couple of Eagle High teachers.
“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Foster because she’s so fun and she is easy to talk to,” said sophomore Birklie Smith.
Jennifer Foster is a science teacher at Eagle High and engages her classes with fun experiments and labs which students can interact with and have a good time while learning. Foster expresses gratitude in knowing that she gives her students, like Smith, a comfortable and fun environment in her classroom.
Smith has created a good relationship with Foster because she talks with her each time she has Foster’s class. It is important for teachers to try and make relationships with their students to make their learning experience better.
“I feel like if teachers build good relationships with students, they feel more comfortable in the classroom and are more willing to learn. And that is our job, to help students learn,” Foster said.
Foster’s engaging classes and goal to connect with her students are terrific examples of why Smith named her as her favorite teacher.
There are so many more teachers at Eagle High that can be recognized for their hard work and effort in their classrooms.
“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Swygart because she helps me learn ASL and she helps me in advisory when I’m struggling,” said freshman Nixon Edwards.

Jessica Swygart is the American Sign Language teacher and tries to create an interactive and fun environment in her classroom. She highly appreciated Edwards’ favor of her.
“Hearing that he considers me his favorite teacher is incredibly rewarding. It reassures me that my efforts to create a supportive and engaging learning environment are making a real impact,” Swygart said. “More than anything, it motivates me to continue fostering a space where students feel valued and inspired to learn.”
Swygart teaches a less-than common language and strives to show the importance of ASL and respect for the deaf community. Students in her classroom say that she does a very good job at creating relationships with her students and relating with them.
“She keeps the students engaged and plays lot of games to help us remember our ASL skills and we connect when we talk about baseball because her son plays and I play,” Edwards said.
These types of teachers are great for students and make better atmospheres for learning. Both of these teachers deserve the title from their students of “Favorite Teacher” because they continue to aim for interesting classes and connections with their students. It always feels good to be appreciated for one’s efforts.
