The Eagle High boys’ basketball team started their season in December and had their first conference game in early January. The team is 10-8 overall and 2-6 in conference. They lost nine seniors from the past year and only had four returners, so they had a fresh start this season.
This year, the team has seven seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. They are coached by Cody Pickett who has been coaching at Eagle High for the past few years. They had their first tournament at Rocky Mountain High for the Owyhee tournament.
“I feel good about going into districts and state,” said senior Andrew Palfreyman. Palfreyman is leading the team with an average of 15.1 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. Eagle High’s team had their district game on Feb. 15. The team is battling each game to stay competitive within the league.
“We’re all pretty close friends which helps us a lot with team chemistry,” Palfreyman said. They are working hard to prepare for Districts and State. Owyhee High leads the league, among many other skilled teams Eagle High plays.
On Feb. 5, Eagle High’s team took on Kuna High and won 59-58. They previously played Mountain View High and Meridian High where they came up just short in points. The Mustangs continue to battle and will have their next away game against Rocky Mountain High. Their last game was against Ridgevue High on Feb. 11 where they finished with a win and score of 63-55. Th Mustangs are continuing to finish out their season with a battle.
