Possibly one of the most well-known Christmas movies and a favorite of many, “Elf,” is a great option for a family movie night. This movie follows Buddy the Elf as he leaves his home in the North Pole to head to New York in search of his dad. This movie is a must watch for every Christmas season and does not fail to leave its viewers “laughing all the way.”
“‘Elf’ is my favorite Christmas movie because I also like to sing, just like Buddy the Elf,” said sophomore Emily McAllister.
Another holiday favorite is “Home Alone.” In this hilarious Christmas classic, Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, a mischievous eight-year-old boy who must save his home from being robbed by the “Wet Bandits”. This movie captures the Christmas spirit in a fun and silly way making it a great movie to watch for the Christmas season.
“’Home Alone’ is another good movie because Kevin is really funny,” McAllister said.
“Christmas Vacation” is the perfect movie for those looking for a lighthearted comedy during the holiday season. In this movie, Clark Griswold does his best to make the perfect “Griswold family Christmas,” as all his distant relatives flood into his home to spend Christmas together. This movie captures the chaos that comes with having all the family cooped up at home together and does a great job at being relatable and funny.
“My family and I always watch ‘Christmas Vacation’ after Thanksgiving dinner, it is our tradition,” McAllister said.
For those looking to watch a fun and lighthearted Christmas movie, any of these options would be perfect. Make sure to grab any friends and family for a festive night in and curl up by the glow of the Christmas tree to watch these funny holiday classics.
