Thanksgiving is a well-known holiday that gives Eagle High students a break from school to enjoy time with their families, so here are some ideas for what to do with all that time. Traveling is a common activity for families when they have freedom away from work and school. As the weather starts to cool down, people look for the warmth and head to a tropical vacation spot, or they journey to their extended family’s house to reunite during the holidays.
Although some students know their plans for their weeklong break ahead, others don’t figure out until weeks before. As Thanksgiving approaches, this is the time friends compare and chat about their traveling plans. Senior Tegan Buck’s ideal place to visit is California where she can reconnect with friends and enjoy the weather.
“I love going on vacations with my family, it makes us all closer and we have so much fun,” said Buck. “This year, we are going to California because it’s a lot warmer and we can visit our friends.”
With it’s sunny weather, California is a popular destination that students and their families will head to this Thanksgiving. Along with California’s beaches, vacationers head to Hawaii to tan and enjoy the sun. Junior Brooke Bondi is thrilled to head to Hawaii this Thanksgiving break.
“This isn’t my first time going to Hawaii, but I’m still so excited to be able to tan when it’s supposed to be cold and gloomy here,” she said.
While some are packing for a vacation, others will be planning to stay with family out of town. Utah is a common region for students to go visit family. Junior Allyson Godfrey can’t wait to stay with her grandparents and cousins this fall.
“I’m going to visit my family down in Utah. I’m so happy that I’ll finally be able to see them. This Thanksgiving is the first time I’ve seen them in so long,” said Godfrey. “It’s always nice because it reminds me how grateful I am for them.”
Several other students voice that they will be traveling for the same reason. Thanksgiving is recognized as a holiday many will traditionally spend with their family and loved ones.
While Eagle High students agree that vacationing during the holiday break is favorable, others prefer to stay home and have a comfortable dinner with their immediate family. Junior Kaylynne Rice remarked that she would much rather have a simple and relaxing week at home to decompress from school.
“Vacations are fun, but for Thanksgiving, I think staying home and celebrating with those you see the most is nice,” she said.
Thanksgiving break is a wonderful time and opportunity to travel to warm and sunny vacation spots or to journey to a family or friend’s home state that many will take advantage of. While everyone will be traveling to different places for different reasons, the outcome will be the same. The quality time with loved ones and stress-free weeklong break is something Eagle High students are looking forward to.
