The precision and dedication that it takes to play golf is something that members of the Eagle High golf team are familiar with. Golf, like many other sports, isn’t learned overnight but rather takes years to master. However, the hard work has clearly paid off for the Eagle High teams as both teams were able to have outstanding performances during this golf season.
Quite a few key players on the girls’ golf team graduated last year, leaving many empty spots that needed to be filled this season. However, new talent has come in strong and been working incredibly hard to win districts and state, which has left coach Alysia DeVries incredibly proud of the girls.
“Varsity Girl’s Golf finished fourth at the SIC District Tournament at Boise Ranch Golf Course qualifying them for the 6A State Tournament in Pocatello, ID,” said coach DeVries “Our JV team also finished second at districts,”
During said tournament, junior Indie Taylor was a key player by finishing third in individuals for girls with senior Beau Sahr placing eighth for boys.
Although there were two seniors who left the boys team this year, coach Joseph Gossi said that the talent from the incoming JV and returning varsity looked promising this season. The boys placed third in the SIC Districts and later went on to place seventh in the State Tournament.
“Treasure the moments with your teammates because these could be your final years playing a team sport,” Sahr said.
Both teams and coaches are excited for the new talent coming in and the start of a new season next year.
