Eagle High varsity volleyball is packing a punch this season. The girls started off the season with a win in their first game against Mountain View High. The girls are loving the new team and new head coach according to players Ellie Mcmanigal and Addy Giles. New coach Ashley Holt took the place of former head coach Collin Hartman.
“I love this team,” said junior libero Ellie Mcmanigal. “The new coach is great and really brings the game together, this has been a really fun season and I’m excited to get into Districts and then State.”
Coach Holt, the new Eagle High varsity coach, is also an Eagle High math teacher. Holt came to Eagle High from Emmet High where she was the athletic director.
Eagle High is a force to be reckoned with heading into the District Tournament. The Mustangs are 7-0 in conference play and ranked fourth in the SIC conference behind Owyhee High, Skyview High and Rocky Mountain High. The tournament is to be played at Owyhee High beginning Oct. 19, and the team would for love all students to show up.
“Eagle High students need to show up and show out, packing the stands and being loud brings a big advantage to our team,” said senior right-side Addy Giles.
State play is set to begin Oct. 31. This tournament will happen in the New Pocatello Volleyball Arena. This arena was built to house the Idaho 2024 Volleyball tournament.
Eagle High Volleyball is not to be taken lightly this season, and the team looks great heading into the District and State tournament.
