Most students can agree that school can be demanding at times. Some may say it is tough to stay on top of homework and feel motivated to try. Nonetheless, here at Eagle High, there are lots of students who work hard in school, one of which is junior Belle Emerson.
“I know it will be beneficial and prepare me for my future,” Emerson said. Emerson is on the JV volleyball team, is a 4.0 student, is acquiring her associate’s degree, is involved in her church, has a job and is part of National Junior Honors Society. To Emerson, school is valuable. Yes, school can be a challenge for her, but she tries her best.
Emerson, currently, is taking lots of concurrent credit classes. The Boise State Concurrent Enrollment program allows students at Eagle High to receive a sophomore start or associates degree by the end of high school. The state of Idaho also allows all high school students funds to pay for these concurrent credits. Emerson is using this opportunity to her fullest advantage. Classes that she is taking for college credit are Introduction to College Composition, College Health, Forensics, Spanish 4 and College Algebra. She has also taken several classes in the past to receive college credit. Though, her favorite class is Teaching Art in Elementary. She said that her most beneficial class is Spanish because knowing another language is advantageous for future careers and, in general, a fantastic skill to possess.
A hindrance that many students face when accomplishing schoolwork is balancing time.
“Do not procrastinate your work, make sure to have a planner to write down homework and tests so that you can remember,” advised Emerson. She is able to accomplish a lot because she has the ability to balance her time with school, activities, work and fun.
