Eagle High’s theater production team, The Fourth Wall Players, runs two plays every school year. For the fall semester of the 24-25 school year, they are performing, “The Game’s Afoot,” by Ken Ludwig.
“My favorite part about the school plays is seeing the production come to life,” said senior Mack Harvey. Harvey has the lead role, portraying the character, William Gilette. Harvey started his theater career by doing lights his freshman year. He started acting in his sophomore year and has been doing so ever since.
Teacher of acting, both beginning and advanced, as well as stagecraft one, Tracy Harrison, is the director of the plays at Eagle High.
“We have never done a murder mystery play before and I thought it would be fun and new,” she said on why she chose “The Game’s Afoot.”
Harrison enjoys directing plays because of her belief that art is important in keeping stories alive and impacting the globe.
“We tell the stories of humanity through plays, and I believe we can change the world through art,” Harrison said.
The play, “The Game’s Afoot,” takes place during December of 1936 and starts when William Gilette invites his cast-members over for a party at his castle to celebrate getting the lead role in the “Sherlock Holmes” play. However, when one of the guests is murdered, Gilette takes on the responsibility of solving the case himself. The play is meant to be a funny spin on a mystery case during the Christmas season.
The production begins on Oct. 23 and runs through Oct. 26. Each play will be in the Eagle High auditorium and will start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door of the auditorium on the days when the play will run.
