One of the newest clubs at Eagle High is JustServe club, a student-led organization that aims to bring people together to help the community. The group consists of president and co-founder junior Luke Merril, vice president and co-founder sophomore Evelyn Whitting, secretary sophomore Bryn Beardall, project coordinator junior Trent Walker and advisor Melanie Clark.
“As I’ve volunteered to serve in the community, I’ve noticed how even the littlest acts of service have left a big, positive impact not only on those being served but also on myself and the others serving the community,” Merril said.
The club has already had many successful service projects in just the few months that it has been established. Several other projects include racking up Eagle, helping two Eagle assisted living care centers and making kits for local unhoused people.
“Last semester, our club completed over 320 service hours in just five months!” Whitting said. “Our goal for this year is to double both the number of volunteers and the number of service hours from last year and keep our group fun and focused on having a positive and lasting effect on the school and community.”
This is also a club that doesn’t have any fees or requirements to join, allowing helping the community to be possible to anyone. Additionally, students at Eagle High who want to participate and accomplish at least 10 or more hours of community service will be rewarded with a certification of completion and a medal.
