Teachers at Eagle High are an integral part to a student’s education. Teachers put in a ton of work and effort to make class a fun and enjoyable experience for students while also helping students learn and do well in school.
One specifically hardworking teacher is Bruce Cornell. Cornell teaches chemistry, physics, AP physics and astronomy.
“I like teaching because I like working with students and teaching them to discover and solve problems. I also find science very interesting,” Cornell said. He loves solving problems and working with science, so teaching it is very enjoyable for him.
“Teachers in the past that I liked, have motivated me to become a teacher. I saw how they taught, and I could see myself doing that,” Cornell said. He became a teacher because he looked up to and admired teachers when he was a student, and he wanted to do the same with his life.
With being a teacher comes many challenges that Cornell must face every day. One challenge is advisory. Cornell gets swamped during advisory with students coming in from all of his different classes, all of them needing different things. The only way he can overcome this challenge is by working harder and putting his students first.
“I have lots of experience teaching, so handling everything is a little bit easier,” Cornell said. With this year being his 20th year teaching at Eagle High, Cornell has gained a lot of experience in his teaching career, which helps him juggle the stresses of teacher life a lot better.
