During lunch, the parking lot is crowded with excitement as people are racing to get to where they are going. Whether it’s to a nearby friend’s house, a car or a restaurant, one thing remains true, it is lunch time. Although there are many wonderful things about Eagle High, an obvious favorite is the proximity to food.
“I’m looking forward to getting my license because then I can finally drive to all my favorite restaurants at lunch,” said sophomore Katrina Collins.
Starting at two and a half miles from the school, McDonald’s in Eagle is easily a fan favorite option among hungry high school students. The average range of a meal is $5 to $8, this may be why there is often a trail of cars found traveling from school to McDonald’s, and back again. Fast, easy and close, it is no doubt that large fries are necessary on the list of items to order there.
Though McDonald’s is a fan favorite, some may value a healthier option, such as the locally famous, Bowl of Heaven which is two miles away in Eagle. From chocolate peanut butter smoothie bowls to acai, they have a smoothie everyone is sure to love. It is no doubt a delicious healthy lunch alternative to finish the day strong.
Healthy or unhealthy, food can be good. A perfect example is Guthrie’s Original Chicken Finger Restaurant on Eagle road which offers a vast blend from chicken strips, sandwiches and delicious sauces. It is a foodie’s paradise, and diners can wash their meals down with an ice-cold soda.
For most freshman, driving is not an option, but they should not lose hope. Not even half a mile down the sidewalk is Jacksons gas station. To the untrained eye, a gas station serves a single purpose, getting gas. Although this can be true, the gas station remains the number one food spot for the many carless students at Eagle High. They offer everything from slushies, pizza and salads to candies and gum.
“The gas station is a personal favorite; I can be there and back in twenty minutes,” sophomore Lucy Holmes said.
No matter how students decide to lunch, the town of Eagle has them covered. It seems hard to run out of places to enjoy a lunch period with your friends, and in the worst-case scenario, the school has vending machines right outside the cafeteria.
