ASL
September is Deaf Awareness Month. ASL Club will be meeting every Tuesdays when it is an A day during lunch. ASL 3 made posters for students to read around the school, while ASL 2 made Kleenex boxes to give out to teachers, spreading Deaf Awareness at Eagle High.
Band
Band’s season is starting with their first half-time performance at the home football game on Sept. 13. Their first competition/clinic is at Mountain View High on Sept. 28.
BPA
Teacher Joe Gossi and teacher Andy Favor are running BPA this year and held their first meeting for BPA Sept. 11. BPA is a club to learn about business etiquette, styles of businesses and how to run your business. BPA travels to competitions to compete with others.
Career Center
The 2024 NACAC National College Fair will be hosted on Thursday, Oct. 17. There will be two sessions, one from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the second from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There are over 86 colleges coming to Expo Idaho. The future lunch visits include Thursday Sept. 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the gym foyer joined with Gonzaga University. The next lunch will be Thursday Sept. 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:37 a.m. in the Eagle High gym foyer to visit with the University of Utah.
Chess Club
The Chess club will be meeting on Thursdays after school in the library. If the club doesn’t have much time, they play speed chess. For students that don’t know how to play, the club has experts who will show them how.
FFA
On Sept. 20 they have a lunch meeting at Eagle High. Students can join for free lunch in SE207 to learn more about FFA opportunities and cool events at Eagle High. On Oct. 1, there will be a Chapter Luau from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Rocky Mountain High. This is a chapter meeting where anyone in or interested in FFA is welcome to come as well as to bring their parents. There will be dinner provided in the cafeteria and the entrance will be behind the greenhouse by the south hall. There will be information about being the FFA organization. There will be opportunities to pay dues and get fitted and pay for the official FFA jacket. If getting sized for an FFA jacket and/or need to pay the fees, people must arrive by 5:45 p.m.
GSA
GSA’s first meeting was on Sept. 4 in S109 with games, snacks, prizes, and many more meeting will be held, all are welcome.
JustServe
Projects this year will include honoring veterans in the community for 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. They will also be helping the Idaho Youth Ranch and carving pumpkins for the City of Eagle celebration. Next, the club will rake up Eagle and participate in park cleanup days. They will also make kits for newly diagnosed children in the hospital. A couple more projects are Giving Machines (TM), wheelchair basketball and other adaptive sports and the Salvation Army, community school donations and sports volunteering and helping with two local Eagle assisted living centers. Last, they will be making meals and kits for unhoused people locally.
Key Club
Key Club meets on the first and third Friday of every month in Ms. Ayala-Marshall’s room (S112). Here are some of the things that Key Club had done in the past month: Sept. 5, was the new student luncheon, which Sources of Strength held for students who were new to Eagle to help introduce them to other new students at Eagle High. Key Club pitched in to help set up games and serve food. On Sept. 6, they had their first meeting. They use these meetings to help plan out their upcoming volunteer opportunities, as well as getting to know their members and create a thriving Key Club community. Sept. 18 was dedicated to babysitting teachers’ kids. On the teacher workdays, when students have no school, Key Club comes in to help teachers by watching their kids for the day. This includes activities like arts and crafts, playing games and many more. This is a fun opportunity and a great way to help the amazing teachers at Eagle High.
Women’s Innovators Club
In September, the club held the tour of the Idaho Forensics Lab. Then, in October, they are hosting the astronomy night at Kleiner Park. Jan. 28 will be the Annual SheTech Conference at the College of Idaho. There will also be various guest speakers from STEM fields throughout the semester (dates are TBD).
Speech and Debate Club
A promising new Lincoln Douglas Debate season is predicted. The club has Coach Brown replacing Coach Levanger this year and the most freshman they’ve seen join in three years due to the middle school debate club they set up. It has resulted in 15 new freshman members.
Student Council
This month, Student Council is planning the homecoming week during the week of Sept. 23 through the 28. They will have class organized hallway decoration on the Saturday of Sept. 21, that anyone can help with, and it is a class competition for the week. There is also a food drive that week and spirit days that will be communicated out on the Instagram. They are planning an assembly and food truck event for Friday, Sept. 27 after second period and during lunch. They are also doing a parade during halftime of the football game that night.
Yearbook
The Yearbook staff is preparing for the upcoming powderpuff game in hopes of another great game. Come to support fellow classmates on Sept. 24 at the Thunder Stadium. Yearbooks are on sale. They can be bought through QR codes all throughout the school and on the website.
