As the Eagle High Mustangs roll into the 2024-2025 school year, students are welcoming seven new staff members. “The Stampede Newspaper” asked the newest additions to the staff to tell us a little bit about themselves. Here are their responses:
Brooke Hilde: “Resource Room Teacher. I enjoy hanging out with my family, walking my dog, watching any sports teams, and doing hot yoga. My favorite color is red. I have a serious sweet tooth, and I love all sports! My families from Missouri and I grew up watching Ozzie Smith do backflips at shortstop, so I’m a pretty big St. Louis Cardinal’s fan!”
Sydney Nachtweih: “My name is Mrs. Nachtweih. I am the new school counselor for last names E – LEG. I enjoy taking long walks with my dog, spending time with family and trying new places to eat (Recommendations are welcomed!). I love going camping, reading/watching true crime and hiking.”
Cynthia Labenski:“I am Mrs. Cynthia R. Labenski, I teach English nine & 10.I enjoy live music/theatre like the Shakespeare Festival and Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Gardens. My family loves taking day trips to cool places like local hot springs or ghost towns! I also like my quiet time with a book or crossword puzzle and a cup of tea. Our family has recently added a member to our family, Aya the Abyssinian cat. She looks like a Sphinx!”
Bria Bodine: “[I am] Mrs. Bodine, I’m the career center coordinator on A days and I’m in the virtual school house room on B days. I love painting, traveling and catching up on my favorite TV series (which are always changing)! My favorite author is Jodi Picoult and has been since high school! Some of my favorite TV shows are “Ted Lasso”, “Schitts Creek” and “Parks & Rec”. My favorite animal is an Elephant and a couple of my favorite movies are “Office Space” and “Clue”!”
Eric McCaslin-Hahn: “My name is Eric McCaslin-Hahn and I am Vice Principal of Achievement and oversee ninth grade. My family and I moved to Idaho this summer from Colorado. This is my 19th year working in education. I was a Vice Principal and Athletic Director the past six years, and before that I taught History for 12 years and was Head Football Coach for eight years. Outside of school I enjoy doing Bible studies with my church. I love participating in outdoor activities with my wife, daughter and English Bulldog. Hiking and snowshoeing are my favorite outdoor activities. I enjoy watching or playing any sport. It doesn’t matter the sport, if there is a competition, I’m in. I love to read. I read passages from the “Bible” and a devotional every day. I also enjoy all different genres of fiction books, but as a former history teacher I love non-fiction history books. My favorite fiction book is “The Name of the Wind” and favorite non-fiction book is “Guns, Germs, and Steel”. I am a huge sports fanatic. I have played every sport throughout my life, and I watch way too many games and sports movies. I played football in college, but my favorite sports to play are basketball and tennis. My two favorite sports movies are “Miracle” and “Hoosiers”. My favorite teams are for college sports: the University of Michigan, NFL Team: Green Bay Packers, MLB: St. Louis Cardinals, and NBA Team: Denver Nuggets.”
Sara Mink: “On A days, I am the Front Office Secretary helping Mrs. McEwen, and on B days you will find me in the Library with Mrs. Italiano. I love being in both places! I love cooking, walking, spending time with my family and watching football. [ My favorite teams are] the Seattle Seahawks and Eagle Mustangs of course!”
Moosa McClean: “I teach English Support and English 10. Outside of school I like to go to the gym and spend time with my family. I also consider myself a foodie, so I love to try new places to eat. I am a huge Dallas Cowboy fan as well as a University of Michigan fan. My favorite books are “Manchild in the Promise Land” by Claude Brown and the “Spook who Sat by the Door” by Sam Greenlee. My favorite movies would have to be” Antwon Fisher”, “Any Given Sunday”, “Remember the Titans”, “Training Day “and the Rush Hour movies. “
Brandi McCarney: [I am] Brandi McCarney, [and I teach] US History 11, American Government, Freshman Cornerstone. [I spend my free time] with family, fishing, shopping and traveling. My favorite color is blue, I love pepperoni pineapple pizza and sugar free red bulls. I love Baseball, My favorite season is fall, the month of October is my favorite holiday, my favorite book is “The Sunflower” By Simon Wiesenthal, and my all-time favorite tv show is “Friends.”
