As the summer ended this year and students returned to Eagle High for the 2023 semester, students eagerly awaited the next major blockbuster. The latest movies have had the people of Eagle High in a frenzy. With the release of “Twisters”, “Despicable Me 4,” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” there are many movies to cover.
The movie “Twisters” is set in Oklahoma, where retired meteorologist Kate Carter returns to finish a research project to help those falling victim to tornados tearing through their lives. The students of Eagle High seem to agree that actor Glen Powell did an amazing job acting in his role as Tyler Owens, an Oklahoman storm chaser.
“Glen Powell is a handsome dude. I saw so many edits of him,” said senior Jacob Cohen. The character Tyler Owens acts as the main love interest for Kate Carter.
One of the comedic animated movies that never gets old, “Despicable Me 4” was surprisingly excellent. Gru welcomes little baby Gru Jr. in this new movie and avoids a criminal who has escaped from jail. The Minions do not lose their charm as the movies have been released over the span of almost 15 years. What makes this movie great is the catchy soundtrack.
“The soundtrack was definitely the best part,” said junior Jonathan Zhang. The music was well liked because the two popular artists, Tame Impala and Diana Ross, who collaborated on song production. Popular songwriter and music producer Pharrell Williams also made music for the movie as well.
Another new release was “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The movie was epic and witty. Deadpool gets abducted by the time-variance authority and meets Wolverine to save the world.
“One of the best parts was definitely the dog though,” Zhang said when talking about the lovable Dogpool character.
“I thought about the movie seriously for like a week after I watched it,” Cohen said, remembering how much he liked the film.
The movies released during summer tend to define a lot of what people remember about the year, and these movies have made a comedic and heartfelt impact on several students at Eagle High. If these movies had not been released, who knows what people would have enjoyed watching all summer.
