As the football season is now underway and then after comes basketball season and many other school related events, it is important to give attention to and highlight the astounding group known as the Stang Gang. The Stang Gang is a school spirit squad compiled of hand-picked seniors chosen by administration. These seniors are given a role in the production of school events and various jobs to complete to further enhance the high school sports experience. This group works with administrators and student council regularly to best ensure the best possible experience and to have the most possible fun at the games.
“I’ve seen a lot of Stang Gang members come and go during my time at Eagle, but one thing stays the same. They always bring the energy to games. I think that the seniors chosen this year are going to do a great job,” said senior Colin New.
The Stang Gang this year is compiled of senior members such as Aiden Niehaus, Kylie Heichman, Lauren Renner, Gabe Garcia and Kylie Loucks. A large aspect of being in the Stang Gang is the control and influence of the Eagle High football student section. Niehaus is very excited about the upcoming football games and he, along with the other members of the Stang Gang, have come up with very exciting and fun activities to do at the games involving the student section.
“This year, we are very excited to get the ball rolling. We have tons of exciting plans and themes in the works for upcoming events. This football season will be one to remember,” Niehaus said.
The inaugural activity the new Stang Gang participated in was the first football game of the season. The game was originally scheduled for Aug. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Meridian High school against the Meridian Warriors. Due to the smoke and unsafe nature of the air quality, the first game of the season was rescheduled until the following night. The two teams would then face off at Homedale High. The game was a huge success, as the Mustangs got the 28-13 win, and the student section was cheering louder and more enthusiastically than ever due to the Stang Gang.
It is safe to say that Stang Gang is in good hands with the new members. The future is going to be full of plenty of school spirit. Be excited and expect various school events and to see these energetic school and spirit leaders.
