With the new school year just starting, some new clubs have emerged. The club is the Math and Science club started by junior Jonathan Zhang with Eagle High teacher Kasey Krone as its advisor.
“Someone will read a question, and students will compete in a mock Quiz Bowl to answer the question and get the most points,” said junior Jonathan Zhang about the club happenings.
Zhang also talked about the goal of the club being to entertain their members and have fun. The club also hopes to make it to nationals in the future.
“I attended a Quiz Bowl club at another school and when I came to Eagle High, I realized that we don’t have many clubs like that,” Zhang said. He explained that he liked the trivial aspect of the Quiz Bowl and wanted to start something like that at Eagle High. He believes that a club like the Math and Science club will help students learn as well as have a great time doing it.
The club will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays during advisory and lunch. All that a student must do to join the club is show up to classroom S214 and express the desire to join. Anyone may join the club, which consists of ten members and is looking for at least five more, however, the more the merrier, according to Zhang. The club is hoping to compete in the Quiz Bowl and Science Bowl during the month of October.
If students are looking for a new hobby or just something to do during lunch, they should be sure to check out the Math and Science club. Zhang and all the other members would love to have anybody and everybody who shares a passion for learning and competing.
