Pets are a big part of people’s lives and can sometimes even be considered family, with animals like dogs, cats, birds and more. There is a wide range of pets that students at Eagle High own, and everyone has a different opinion on what is the best pet.  

“Dogs are one hundred percent the best animal,” said freshman Paxton Modjeski. “They like to play, they like to relax and are protective.” 

After all, “a man’s best friend” refers to dogs and their relationship with humans. Dogs are some of the most loyal animals there are, and there is a wide variety of breeds.  

According to welovedoodles.com, there are more than 350 dog breeds globally, giving people a lot of options when it comes to picking out a pet. Dogs are loved across the world while some say that other pets are better.  

“Cats are definitely the best animal,” said junior Rhett Brown. “I think they are cuter than dogs, and they like to relax with you more than any other animal does.”   

To some, cats might seem like lazy, boring animals, but to others, they are the best animal of all time. Cats are great house pets because they catch mice and other pests, do not need help going to the bathroom and love to relax with owners. Cats have been used as pets dating back to 4,000 years ago, and they are not going away anytime soon.  

“Everyone thinks dogs and cats are the best animals, but actually, I think birds are cooler than both of them,” said sophomore Brock Longson. “I have two birds and they are fun and easy to take care of.” 

Birds are another animal that have been around forever, but are not very common when it comes to house pets. Birds can do cool things like fly around a house, do tricks with their beaks and are relatively easy to take care of. Even if they are not as common, birds a great choice to pick for a pet.  

Pets are a major part of peoples lives, and everyone has a different opinion on which one is the best. No matter what people’s opinions are, pets are great friends to have and make lives a lot more exciting.
