U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team qualifies for World Cup for first time since 2014
Oct 26, 2022
The biggest sporting event of all time is all focused on the world’s game: the World Cup. There are 32 teams, one place, all with one goal in mind: to win. For the United States, just qualifying for the tournament is a challenge, but America is in luck after the men’s team qualified for the first time in eight years.
The 2022 World Cup is being held in Qatar and features 32 teams, including Ecuador, Belgium and returning World Cup Champions, France. The World Cup is the time where every country has the opportunity to show off what they can do. For some countries it comes easy, but for places like the United States, it is a serious challenge.
According to sbnation.com, “The U.S. missed out on the World Cup not only because of one bad night of soccer and a few missed chances, but also because of years of lingering problems.”
The United States is seen as one of the greatest countries of all time, so when the time comes around for athletes to represent their country in a tournament, America is thought of as one of the best. Sadly though, this is not the case. In the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the United States lost to Trinidad and Tobago, and it sent the team back home without a spot in the tournament. Now in 2022, the United States has one of the best chances at victory than they ever have.
According to firsttouchonline.com, “They have to rely on individual brilliance from players like Chelsea forward Christin Pulisic. Usually, the U.S. thrives on a collective approach.”
Pulisic who is arguably the best player on the United States soccer team. With his talent and the United States’ ability to work collectively, the team could shock the world with what they can achieve.
The World Cup is the biggest tournament of 2022, with countries giving their best in hopes to win. The United States has a chip on their shoulder after not making it in 2018 and have a great chance in the 2022 World Cup.
