The Mustang Media class is designed for students to be involved in their school. Teacher Austin Rogerson likes the class to be student run, so when the “Heart the Field” event came together, much of the planning was thanks to the students in the class.

This event was held on Thursday, April 10. The first three hundred students who showed up got a free T-shirt that said, “we heart you.” Every person who showed up also got a free piece of pizza if they wanted one. Rogerson then took an overhead picture of the football field with the students lined up in the shape of a heart.

The goal of this event was to spread love throughout Eagle High.

“We want to bring the entire student body together to celebrate the students, celebrate our school and celebrate that everyone is loved and welcome here at Eagle High,” Rogerson said.

Rogerson explained that he wanted this to be mainly student run because students listen to each other.

“Students’ voices are strong,” Rogerson said. “And if we’re being honest, students listen to one another for advice, direction and friendship. I want to see the students come together and embrace one another – culminating in an event that brings us all together.”

Junior Dylan Frothinger came up with the idea of the overhead picture of the heart.

“I want students to take away that at Eagle High, we are together as one, and if we can do little events like this it shows what we can accomplish together,” he said.

Junior Marley Johnson was also very involved in this event. She helped get the picture organized and get the team together on who would promote the event.

Johnson explained that she wanted to be apart of this event because, “it sends a good message and it’s always fun to be a part of something good.”

Eagle High wants it to be known that the students here are very loved.

“Students, deserved to feel loved, appreciated and welcomed at Eagle High. There have been events in our local community that are making students feel otherwise. We wanted to create an event that would allow us to show all Eagle High students how special and loved they are,” said Rogerson.

The turnout was very large, and the student body really showed up for their peers. The Mustang Media class is doing great things for Eagle High and this event is just one example of that.
