The Sweetheart’s Dance is a night where all of WestAda students can join togther and have a night of dancing and fun. Some people go as couples, others as friends. Sweethearts was on Feb. 15 this year and had a very good turnout.
The dance is an evolved version of the Sadie Hawkins dance that was very popular in the early 20th century. Being the day after Valentine’s Day, this dance represents love between good friends and young couples. Unlike most other dances, the girls ask the guys to be their date.

Many groups did “day dates” which involved the group going to do an activity together before the dance itself.
“Our group went bowling and it was very fun to spend time with everyone and see everyone before the dance,” said junior Belle Emerson.
The songs were very popular and liked by the crowd.
“The highlight of my night was dancing in the mosh pit because everyone was laughing, having fun and enjoying the music,” said junior Andie Roy.
There were two Sweetheart’s dances this year on Feb. 15. One dance was held at the Revolution Concert House by the Idareo Boys; a local group who stands for non-alcohol/drug parties for high school teens. The second dance was held by Hearts on Fire.
The dances both had very good turnout and many memories were made.
