For Idaho, snow days are not unheard of but are always a great surprise for students to wake up to. Although this winter hasn’t provided much snow, the weather can be highly unpredictable. A snowy day can involve being outside in the winter wonderland or having a cozy day inside.

Depending on a person’s preference, there is an array of activities to enjoy on a free day. Most students at Eagle High have expressed that when there’s snow on the ground, they’d rather be outside than sitting inside. There’s sledding, ice skating, snowball fights and snow forts. The possibilities are almost endless, which is what makes snow days so exciting.

“I like being outside because I can play and enjoy the cold weather,” said sophomore Beau Mather.

Mather explained that he loves to ski, snowmobile and sled in these colder months. Idaho is a great state for outdoor activities because there are many places dedicated to these activities. Ski resorts like Bogus Basin and Tamarack are recommended by many ski and snowboarders at Eagle High. Brundage is also a wonderful ski resort up in McCall, a long drive but definitely worth it.

“If there is enough snow outside, I will build a snowman,” said junior Taylor Milliot.

Additionally, extra snow on the ground allows for perfect conditions to build snowmen.

Of course, not everyone loves the cold and chilliness of winter, but there are still plenty of things to do with a full day to fill with projects.

“I always grab snacks and binge a bunch of movies,” said sophomore Alaina Hayhurst.

Snuggling up with blankets and watching a lineup of favorite movies is always a great way to spend a day inside.

“I make hot chocolate and read by the fire,” said junior Madison McGee. Relaxing is always a perfect way to wind down and destress.

Video games are another activity that can pass the time during a day stuck in the house.

“I like playing Fortnite with my friends,” Mather said.

More things to do inside include finding unique crafts to make with friends or family, baking a sweet treat or catching up on some sleep, which most teenagers could use.

Whether students go out and adventure in the snow or stay inside and cuddle up, there are countless activities to fill an unplanned day off. While the weather has been pretty nice these wintery months, hopefully a snow day is close in Eagle High’s future.
